Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (Geneva University ,Switzerland) in 1982. Spent 8 years in Canada as a family physician. Back in Switzerland trained as a specialist in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Completed 2 years of training in Psycho-geriatrics at the Geneva University Hospital. Published a study on functional status assessment in the frail elderly and obtained his Doctorate in Medicine.
